Our spring maintenance checklist covers many of the responsibilities that come with being a homeowner. Having a checklist for spring and winter will help remind you of some of these tasks.  Not only are these items helpful for preventative care, but they are also a necessity, especially if you plan to sell.

A lovingly-cared for home will bring an owner more money if the time comes to downsize or upgrade.

  1. Check Foundation Vents – make sure they are free of leaves/debris and check for damage.
  2. Clean Dryer Vents – a clogged dryer vent can be a fire hazard.
  3. Replace all Filters – including water, range hood and air vent/furnace. This should be done every 3-6 months.
  4. Clean Gutters – remove any leaves/debris so that the water can flow/drain appropriately.
  5. Inspect your Roof – your roof is the first line of defense for any potential water damage.
  6. Clean and Repair your Screens & Windows – winter wind can be harsh on screens. Wash with soapy water.
  7. Clean Decks and other Outside Surfaces – a light pressure washing will renew the look of your deck.
  8. Repair any Peeling Paint and Siding – prevent moisture from getting in by keeping up with rot and peeling.
  9. Vacuum Refrigerator Coils – if they are clogged with dust it causes your refrigerator to work harder and use more electricity.
  10. Replace Batteries in Smoke Detectors – keep your home safe by replacing the batteries.
